Why I feel like it’s already 2011
Disclaimer: I offer no advice in this post — I know, thank goodness, right? This is just an update on what’s going on here at Avelient. I feel like I have so much to say, and a single Facebook update just won’t cut it.
December 1st I posted on my Facebook page that it felt very much like December was already over, and it really had just begun. I was overwhelmed with all the planning I’ve been doing for the company, both in terms of strategy for next year and the great stuff that we’ve got going for this month.
Bringing Everyone Together
First on my mind is a big company holiday meeting that’s been in the works since September. I’ve basically arranged for all of our Washington state employees to fly over to New York for a weekend and meet up with us to discuss exciting things happening in the company, both in the way we’re structured and the plans we have for next year. I won’t bore you with the details, because much of it will be exciting to employees and partners…and that’s about it. But it’s kept me busy!
Rocking it Out
Next, I’ve been involved in co-hosting and helping to launch the new Rockstar Podcast, with our friend Lorenzo from Screaming Lunatic and Tony from Drophouse. We’ve got four episodes recorded so far, and we’re getting them primed and ready for iTunes downloads in the next couple of weeks. It’s definitely been a chance to sit and talk about challenges that I think all small businesses face as they grow. In the meantime, you can listen right from the website, so you should check it out if you get a chance.
Giving our All
We’re looking at how to divide our charity money up this year, and we’ve selected three charities to which we’d like to donate money, but we’re giving our business followers the opportunity to direct the money. We just thought it would be neat to give people a voice. If you’re interested in participating, go to our poll and pick your favorite. We’ll divide the money up at the end of the year based on how people voted! While you’re at it, if you want to get regular updates on it, join our Facebook page for regular updates.
And of course, we’re pitching our services. If you or someone you know is looking to get some web site development done, have them read this blog. Our projects for December are closed, but we’re looking to fill our 2011 calendar. If you or anyone you know is looking for website development work, send them to us. We’ll book their project for next year and give them a 10% discount on 2010 rates if they sign with us by December 31st.
I know that we haven’t quite reached the end of the year yet, but I just wanted to state publicly that I am so proud and honored to work with my team at Avelient. There is some amazing work coming out of here, and we’re shaping up to have a great year next year. I look forward to working with them all.
